changing our systems

Trainers everywhere know this moment: ‘This was great… but can you also teach MY leader this?’ 😅
They’re right to ask. It’s a two-pronged question:

On one hand, we hope our leaders upskill to become even better at leading us.

And, on the other, folks correctly sense that without embedding new behaviors into the system — not just the tech, but the way people actually work together — old patterns will snuff out even the best new approaches.

I think that’s why last week’s invite back to my alma mater, Zalando, felt pretty powerful: nearly 40 leaders from one team came together across levels to build shared language, compare perspectives, and find ways to align + support each other — especially heading into peak season.

And what a powerful way to signal to the business that learning, relearning, and team sense-making is important no matter where you are on the org chart, on your leadership path, or the size of your brand.

💫 Grateful for the trust from former teammates to pilot this new experience; special thanks to Julian Oduro, Desislava Todorova & Ramilya Krawinkel.

PS: The view from Zalando's new tower? Um, yeah, not too bad either. 🌇
